~You're Nothing but a Pack of Cards~ Flemish woven Wall Tapestry fully lined & embellished with border & hanging loops. Approx. size 60x65cm. Inspired from the original book illustrations Alice in Wonderland by Sir John Tenniel – Author Lewis Carroll "Off with her head!' the Queen shouted at the top of her voice. Nobody moved. 'Who cares for you?' said Alice, (she had grown to her full size by this time.) 'You're nothing but a pack of cards!' At this the whole pack rose up into the air, & came flying down upon her: she gave a little scream, half of fright & half of anger, and tried to beat them off, & found herself lying on the bank, with her head in the lap of her sister, who was gently brushingaway some dead leaves that had fluttered down from the trees upon her face. . Sir John Tenniel was the artist who agreed to illustrate the revised and expanded text which was now called Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. The edition of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland which was published in July was subsequently withdrawn. The illustrator was displeased at the poor quality of printing, which did not do justice to his illustrations. All but about 15 copies were successfully recalled and presumed destroyed. A new edition was published in November 1865 (but dated 1866). Our tapestries are created with the greatest of care in the finest materials. This tapestry therefore requires no other maintenance other than a dry-dusting with a soft brush. If required please dry clean only.
